Let me set the stage. It’s day 7 of an 8 day stop in San Francisco. The previous 6 days had been unreal. VIP rooms, table service, having an amazing time in a huge range of situations and all in all, partying it up in the Bay Area and living life awesome.

We are in a hot club downtown and I’m not really feeling the crowd. It’s not my usual style of club, a little more urban than I’m used to. I lean over to one of my wings and advise him of my thoughts and how we should roll somewhere else. He turns and looks at me and says:

Man, it’s a club, just like any other club, you aren’t feeling it, not that it’s not to be felt. you are just choosing to not to.

Boom, he totally destroyed my reality and he was right. It wasn’t the club that was sucking. It was me. I quickly readjusted, did a few 3, 2, 1, Clap, Woo’s.

What the hell is a 3, 2, 1, Clap Woo?

It’s a tip we stole from the guys over at Real Social Dynamics. It’s a powerful way to get yourself excited. Here’s how to do it:

Stand up.
Count down – 3, 2, 1
CLAP (and I mean a leave your hands stinging hard clap)
and then YELL, at the top of your lungs WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

What this does is builds up your excitement, in the same way football players yell and bang on each other’s chest pads. It elevates your heart rate, releases some endorphins, a shot of epinephrine and brings up your current emotional state.

It’s vitally important that you yell as loud as you can, you can do it anywhere anytime and I promise people will forget you did it just as quickly as you did. It’s also really important that you follow this up having fun, talking to people, dancing, doing a shot of tequila, etc. It will help the programming stick and help you fall into a higher state faster.

I turned my night around and ended up having a great time.

I like the feeling of being perceived as a hot guy. I’m not deluded by it nor do I think it’s the be all end all of anything, it’s just a sensation I enjoy. Women have so much power in this arena that they command men with the slightest glance or flip of the hair and as far as I’m concerned, I want in. So my idea of sexy went something like this: A&F muscle fit white polo with the collar standing straight up and the neck of the shirt sitting wide on the chest so you see a large triangle of my neck line not tiny bit of skin. Military green A&F rugged sentinel jacket, belt with a sideways cross as the buckle pulled to one side, loose jeans that I can move in, Italian shoes, great cologne and a green military cap pulled down over my eyes and to the right. Looking at me dead on you catch my gaze but the first thing you notice is my jaw line, mouth, unshaved face and the low hat. Now guys, I’m not trying to write gay porn here; but you’ve got to get a visual to see how this works. Dressing like that changes things. It changes the way you feel, the way you walk and the way people respond to you. It changes the attention that women give you and also the respect (or jealousy) that men throw your way. It’s like being in costume. Women are in costume all the time: makeup, heels, jewelry, earrings, skirts, racy tops, hairstyles, beads, charms, stones, nail polish… come on. Just think Halloween and you’ve got your costume on—you can break out of who you are no matter how tame or wild you normally are.
Alright, so dinner was fun and afterwards we made our way to the club next door. It was early and we were one of 10 people there so far but that didn’t stop the smoke machines from spilling out in the room, the music banging, the huge Chinese lanterns above from glowing luminescent and a trio of Belvedere vodka girls from approaching us to sample their poison. My friend is a sexy little thing that’s nearly 40 but she is from an older generation so her dancing mixing with my breed of dancing is a little unique to watch but we did well and drew some positive attention. Finally the floor filled and within the hour, as is wont to happen in club environments, standing room is about all you get to try and do your thing. Bouncers were protecting the bottle service territory i.e. every possible booth in the place one might sit.
At some point probably close to midnight either the DJ got intelligent or got switched out and he stopped abruptly switching songs from 70s to 2000’s without so much of a fade in and finally put on some really good hip hop. You can generally feel the energy of the room change when a DJ mixes well. It’s a building, an increase of energy, an excitement… like being mile high on X in front of a wall of speakers at a rave during a techno drum climax with glow sticks… Yeah anyway.
My friend needs to get up early the next day and leaves juuuuuuuuuuuust as a couple of very cute girls make their way over to me. One is wearing silk and here’s where it gets good. I’m fascinated by the power of dance. Done right it’s like a mating call or a call to action. If you could put into words the response that a woman has when she sees someone dancing that excites her, once you clear out all of her self-talk garbage like “Oh, he dances better than me and I don’t want him to look better than me, or I’m the woman and that’s intimidating, or it’s girls night or I have a boyfriend I shouldn’t feel this way” it would sound something like:
“I’m yours. If you want to, you can just put yourself inside me now, but I’d rather you tease me a little bit. Make me feel sexy. Make me feel like a woman. Touch me, grind me and move like a man. Confidently, aggressively… You don’t even have to say a word. Just take me, I’m yours.” Yup.
So we have a little of that going on and within moments my hands are presented with full access to a very round ass that’s being thrust on me, legs, chest and whatever else… Just play with it nicely says her energy… I can do that.
30 minutes of this and dancing off each other and crunking out — wait am I allowed to say that as a white guy? — and we get some air outside. My favorite part: “I’m Jessica by the way,” she says, accompanied by an outstretched hand begging for a formal hand shake. Our bodies just finished speaking a very different language inside the club, and yet, here is this hand and name introduction. I know what your body feels like but now let’s shake hands. It’s just odd but girls do it. I politely shake and pull her in for a hug.
Women, or people rather respond in kind so my energy is calibrated to be calm, friendly and more and more these days as REAL as I can possibly be. I just do me.
The more I look at this girl and her friend who by the way is celebrating her birthday and flits in and out of our conversation, the more they look familiar—always a good sign. So, we’re talking, she asks a lot of questions and birthday girl comes back to the mix. Now I am introduced again by name and she says “OH! That’s a unique name! That’s the same name our dance and yoga instructor had from a long time ago, remember Jess?” Well, turns out I WAS their dance and yoga instructor FIVE years ago. They thought “awkward,” but I thought hilarious, and then as the friend always does, she says, “Take good care of her she’s a good girl,” and birthday girl goes home.
Law of attraction is a faithful companion. It is there in every moment to tell you exactly what you’re putting out and exactly what you’re getting in return. Talked. Yeah Talked. For the better part of an hour. I was not attracted to her. And by the way, I strongly advise against fucking a girl just because she’s there, or because she has nice tits or because you’re horny unless you’re really feeling a connection with her. And I don’t mean the most amazing connection of your life, like a jump into a relationship connection, or this is a girl I can date or I love this girl or any of that. I just mean does she get you going? Do you feel that hot energy between you two? Does she make you feel like if you don’t have her then and now the world might just come to and end.

A while back I was eating alone in a restaurant and a gorgeous Ukranian girl took my order. Big blue eyes, long black hair past her bum, enormous full, round perfect breasts, full kissable mouth. Our eyes met and I wanted her. She wound up getting off shortly after and needed a ride home. I offered. After stopping the car in front of her house, moments after meeting her, she told me I could ask for her number and I just smiled, leaned over, cupped my hand around the back of her neck and kissed her. And kissed her. And kissed her. My temperature gauge in the car must have surely been wrong? 106 degrees? It was HOT. A few minutes later she said, “We HAVE to stop, give me your number!” A week later and after some really spectacular sex we were talking about how we met (You can only make comments about how you met, and how attracted you were to each other when you met AFTER you have sex, then it’s a fun topic of conversation) and she said: “I knew it the second our eyes met.” That is what I mean when I say you FEEL it. Pause, pause, pause.

So back to my story of the girl from the club who is in my bed talking to me and is now, now giving me a foot massage. I’m not horny, I am not attracted to her and I really just feel like a massage but I am exhausted. I say, I’m too tired to return the favor she says, it’s ok, just lay here. Relax. It’s ok if you fall asleep, I had fun. I say I’m being a bad host, but I’m just so sleepy… Her hands begin to tighten and squeeze around my shoulders and neck, I feel my face melting into my down pillow and it’s so damn comfortable. I say, you’re gonna put me to sleep with that massage and she says, it’s ok, just enjoy it, I’ll see myself out… And then come the caresses. Who doesn’t love to be caressed softly by a woman? Caresses on my arm, on my face, on my cheek. Am I in heaven? I peel back an eyelid to look at her and smile in appreciation. She is just there, looking at me, smiling at me, caressing. I let the weight of my body sink into my bed and move my legs slowly around to feel the sheets. Then more caresses just on my face, on my face until…
I’m wake up the next morning. Just me. I’m still marinating in my bed feeling relaxed. That’s not an experience you have every day. That which is like unto itself is drawn: Law of Attraction is a faithful companion. If you’re tuned in it gives you everything you need whenever you ask for it. You can have it however you want it friends. And that was exactly what I needed that night. Any belief, any thought that pops into your mind that tells you otherwise is just the excuse that we use to keep ourselves from it. So what does snowboarding have to with this website? Well the other night I was out with a few friends, We had be chatting and enjoying our night talking about various events but then a girl appeared. Both my friends stopped dead in their tracks “wow, she’s hot, I want to talk to her” they both muttered and then continued to sit there. I on the other hand figured out a way to talk to her so that I didn’t appear to be hitting on her. With this in my arsenal I decided at the start of the next song I’d put my plan into action. Instantly the fear kicked in, I felt like I was strapping into my snowboard at top of Blackcomb mountain ready to drop into the Superpipe. I quickly jumped up and rolled onto the dance floor before I could let the anxiety paralyze me. My approach was simple – find the funnest girl on the dance floor that I wasn’t interested in and dance with her. The music was swing/blues so I was at home as I had taken a series of dance classes before and knew I wasn’t a great dancer but I was a better dancer than anyone else there. I was having a great time spinning and swinging this girl around laughing and joking. Instantly I was the star that put my social value up to a ten and I knew that the girl that my friends were interested in would notice this. She did.

My friend joined me on the dance floor and engaged her, she was more interested in me, problem? nope not at all. I started to dance with her and showed her a great time spinning and swinging her around. She was laughing and trying to find out everything she could about me. I dodged question after question and continued to talk about how I was there with my friend and how cool he was and I that I was so stoked that he had called me to come out. We danced for another song, I informed her that I had work in the morning and I had to leave but my friend was staying and that she should have a good night. No numbers or emails were exchanged to reinforce that I wasn’t interested in her (which was true).

Here is how it happened step by step you can chose to apply the ones you like.

1. interest was expressed in a particular girl by my friends.
2. I devised a way to talk to her and ACTED as soon as possible to overcome the anxiety.
3. On my way to start the interaction my anxiety peaked and then steadily declined after all the plan was in action and it was too late to turn back.
4. I increased my social value showing that I was a fun and care free person (and a good dancer).
5. I chatted with the girl and increased my social value.
6. To interest her in my friend I talked about how great he was which maintained my social value but ranked his higher than mine.
7. I left her wanting my friend and headed home to get some food and go to bed.
8. She became interested in my friend and they hit it off.

I can tell you that every time I initiate an interaction with a girl I get approach anxiety, my heart flutters and I get a dreadful feeling. The best daters in the world do, Rockstars and Athletes do, you’ll never get rid of that feeling but you have to embrace it and go for it. If I hadn’t of we would have just sat at the table all night and he wouldn’t have met a great girl and she wouldn’t have met to great guys, one of which who was a pretty good dancer.

Now folks, this doesn’t have to be applied to just guys meeting a girl, a girl can just as easily do it to a guy. You just have to get over your approach anxiety.

I was in Boston on business with my brother and we thought we’d go out for a drink at a pub down the road. I went up to the bar to order a drink and I noticed the girl standing beside me was quite attractive. It was cold that night, so she had her sweater draped over shoulders and not on properly. So, being the playful flirty guy that I am, I grabbed the arms of her sweater, flung them around as I laughed and said, “hey you, where are your arms?” She looked at me with a sour look on her face and said “I don’t have any arms. I’m an amputee.” and showed me the stumps where her arms were. Ouch. Then her friends, who overheard the conversation, yelled at me, “what a jerk! How can you be so insensitive?!”

I felt terrible. I apologized, and told her friends I didn’t know and was just being playful… I bought her a drink, said I was really sorry again and left the bar.

I want to point out a few things. Yes, it is a pretty embarrassing story, and now I’ll think twice now about pulling girls’ sweaters when out at the bar. But I would like to note Doc’s attitude about what happened: He apologized, bought her a drink, and talked with her friends to make sure they would tell her that he was sorry and hadn’t done anything to purposely hurt her feelings. As a side note, he now has one of the best answers to that “what’s the most embarrassing thing that ever happened to you?” question.

Okay, so now that I’ve scared you out of ever talking to women ever again, I want you to relax your shoulders, breathe in slowly, and breathe out a deep sigh of relief. Because you will statistically never have to go through something that embarrassing/awkward when you start a conversation with a girl you don’t know. Not even close. Out of all the people I know who approach women on a regular basis, they generally haven’t had drinks poured on them, and no slaps in the face to talk about. Women are just not that scary (when they’re not shopping for shoes…).

Let’s talk about your life then. Say you’re hanging out with a few friends at your college bar and you notice a girl that fits your “type.” She’s a brunette, a little bit shorter than you, and she’s wearing a t-shirt with your favorite obscure rock band on it. And she’s drop-dead gorgeous.

The problem is that you’re scared to go up and talk to her. Why? Our brains have evolutionarily evolved to protect us in our cave-man societies of 50 people or less. Within those small societies, our brains evolved to protect us from talking with strangers, especially physically attractive strangers that likely have an alpha male as a mate. It’s a protection mechanism, but in our society today it is not serving you.

So, I’m going to play psychologist here and analyze your fear of approaching your cute college girl, according to Dale Carnegie’s 3 Steps to Overcome Worry/Fear:

1)What’s the worst that could happen? Describe your absolute worst-case scenario.

“When I go up and talk to her, she’ll laugh at me, tell me that I should jump off a bridge and die, and then tell all of her friends, my friends, and everyone she meets about how much of a dork I am…People will see me fail, and I’ll be embarrassed.”

2)Analyze your worst case scenario: is it likely? No. But let’s say for sake of argument, that it is. Hypothetically allow yourself to deal with that possibility. Would it be the end of the world?

“Well, I guess she probably wouldn’t be really mean to me and throw water in my face… But if she did, I guess I’d feel pretty shit about it. But I suppose I could deal with it – and maybe be able to laugh at the situation. Plus, I’d have a hilarious story to tell my friends.”

3)What are some ways that you could minimize the likelihood of the worst case scenario happening?

“I could create a good first impression by always looking after my physical appearance, even if I’m just going to the grocery store… And I could have a few interesting things to say or funny stories about things that happened recently, so I don’t feel like I have nothing to talk about…”

The point is, there’s a lot you can do to minimize that far-off and unlikely worst-case scenario. And anything that you do regularly gets easier as you learn the necessary skill set. Approaching women, going in for the first kiss, whatever it is you’re scared of.

Out of all the interactions I’ve had with approaching and talking with women, the worst that’s ever happened to me is simply a cold shoulder or a brief, awkward conversation. And if I look at the positives that have come out of the interactions: meeting literally thousands of new people; going on dates; a feeling of being able to be adventurous in even the most ‘everyday’ situations… I’m quite happy I get over that little fear each time, and do it anyway.

Most people don’t generally have an awareness of how they are using their body language. They allow their emotions and natural instincts to express themselves freely. This is a good thing for you! Why? Well, we can learn to read people and how they are feeling and we can adjust our body language/expression/tone to them.

So here is your first assignment as a student of having a better life. I want you to head to a cafe or local night spot and just sit and watch a few groups of people see how they interact and watch their body language and facial expressions. Are they having fun? Are they angry? Sad? Mad? Nervous? Here are some clues to get you started:

Leaning in: the person or people in a group that are leaning in towards someone are expressing a lower status. They generally are less confident and are seeking to listen to the speaker. This is really common to see a guy who is head over heels for a girl on a date leaning halfway across the table while his date sits back.

Leaning back: The dominant person or people will be leaning back, comfortable taking up space while others lean in. They are used to people making them the center of attention and do not feel they need to lean in to be heard. Think about a quarter back in a huddle, he doesn’t need to push his way through he stands there and the rest of the team crowds around.

Fidgety hands: Especially with guys, you’ll see them peeling labels, tearing up napkins, coasters, playing with anything insight. It’s a nervous energy they are demonstrating, they don’t feel confident or comfortable enough to just “be” they have to have something to keep them busy. Have a look around do you see what I mean?

Touching hair: See a girl over at the bar talking to a guy? Is she interested in him? Wait and see if she touches her hair. Woman do this subconsciously and they do it a lot. The more hair touching the more interest.

Crossed arms: This is a defensive posture. It generally shows that they are either uncomfortable or unimpressed. Remember getting home past curfew and seeing mom and dad standing in the door way with arms crossed?

The space between: Not only a Dave Matthews song but also an interesting way to tell if two people are close and comfortable. You won’t see complete strangers squished together talking, but you will see old friends, lovers and family with no problems sitting really close to one another.

So now you are armed with a little bit of knowledge lets see if you can watch and pick some up on your own? Are people trying to get in or out of a conversation? Are they in a hurry? What are their emotions? Who is comfortable and confident? who is nervous and insecure? In love? In hate? Sad? Happy? In need of a hug? See if you can pick out these signs. As the calendar turned to October, I decided to lose my summer fling. I flung him off like a 5 inch stiletto after a long night of dancing. He was not boyfriend material so why prolong the agony? There’s not much to say when you break off a fling. There’s no “I need my stuff back” moments and no awkward “it’s not you, it’s me” conversations to have. That’s why they call them flings! It’s fun, I flinged then I flung and now I move on. For a girl like me , moving on is easy. Some say I’m jaded by love gone wrong, I think I’m a smart modern woman who knows what she wants and isn’t going to settle for anything less than butterflies.

The loss of my fling left me feeling satisfied in a way that only a shoe sale and Ben and Jerry’s really can and that feeling of freedom gushed in. So when I got a call to meet friends for drinks I thought “why not?” My calendar had been a bit bare lately with all the indoor flinging I had been doing this summer, perfect time to get in some social networking and kick back a bit. Slicked on some gloss, let my hair down and pulled on a killer pair of red shoes (my lucky red shoes) and headed to the restaurant.

To my surprise, the friend I was going to meet had brought some friends of his own and my eye instantly caught that of a tall handsome stranger who clearly had an eye for fashion. The way those True Religions hugged him in all the right places had me at “hello!” (Note to all men! We notice jeans! We do! Splurge on a pair of Rock and Republics or True Religions and you’ll be shocked by the amount of women who begin to oogle your goodies on a daily basis). The guy had all the makings of a Mr. Right now. Just what I needed to get back into the flow of things: Excellent fashion sense, great body, tattoos for sleeves and get this… Leaving for Scotland to work in 3 days! Jackpot! No strings, no fuss, no muss, pure physical lust. It was foolproof. After a long night of flirting, dancing and maybe one or two too many gin martinis, I had to know if it was worth it so I kissed him. (The first kiss will always make or break the next location). Hailed the first cab we could (it was one hell of a kiss!) and got back to my building. Up the stairs and into my apartment with just enough energy left to kick off my red shoes and pass out on my bed. Both of us, out cold.

I woke up the next morning and turned to my left to see an arm covered in tattoos and a ridiculously sexy man attached to that arm. It got pretty hot in my tiny apartment and it came time to ask that always awkward but ALWAYS necessary question, so I asked it: “Do you have a condom?” What came next was probably the most shocking thing I have ever heard come from a human’s mouth. He responded with a condescending smirk and giggle, “Nobody wears condoms anymore.”
He said as though condoms were a trend that went out in the 80’s and I just hadn’t heard about it yet. Who does this guy think he is?! I got dressed faster than that time my home room teacher found me in the men’s locker room after a high school hockey game. My skin was crawling and all I could think about was getting this guy OUT! After mumbling something about having to be at a “thing” I ushered him out and thanked my lucky shoes.

Any man who will ask a woman to have sex without a condom after knowing her for the length of time it takes to make a gnarly hangover needs to have his heads examined. Both of them!
And if a girl is willing to have sex with you without a condom after knowing you for 4 martinis… you are probably not the only one she’s letting. Don’t get in. Get OUT and fast. Condoms are not a passing trend. Aids didn’t go anywhere and neither did any other form of STD. Having a stash of condoms may seem presumptuous but they also keep you safe. I always have one on hand. Not because I’m promiscuous and not because I am always looking for a one night stand but because I respect my body and you never know when you might get swept off your feet and find yourself in the heat of passion with a handsome stranger or sexy friend. My mother always told me to keep my passport on hand JUST in case… well, thanks for that advice Mom… I always do! And right beside it, is my emergency rubber! Who knows? Next time I put my lucky red shoes on I could be jet setting off to Paris with a handsome stranger who is a bit silly and ALWAYS covers his willy!

To be called Scotch whisky the spirit must conform to the standards of the Scotch Whisky Order of 1990. Which are:

1. Must be distilled at a Scottish distillery from water and malted barley, to which only other whole grains may be added, have been processed at that distillery into a mash, converted to a fermentable substrate only by endogenous enzyme systems, and fermented only by the addition of yeast,
2. Must be distilled to an alcoholic strength of less than 94.8% by volume so that it retains the flavour of the raw materials used in its production,
3. Must be matured in Scotland in oak casks for no less than three years,
4. Must not contain any added substance other than water and caramel colouring, and
5. May not be bottled at less than 40% alcohol by volume.

This is why only Scotland can produce Scotch and why other varieties of whiskey exist (Canadian, Bourbon, Tennessee etc). Scotch production is broken up in to various regions of Scotland, very much like the way wine is broken into different regions. Here is a breadown of the regions and what Scotches are common to those.

• Lowland — only three distilleries remain in operation: Auchentoshan, Bladnoch, and Glenkinchie.
• Speyside — has the largest number of distilleries, which includes: Aberlour, Balvenie, Glenfiddich, The Glenlivet and The Macallan
• Highland — some Highland distilleries: Dalmore, Dalwhinnie, Glenmorangie, Oban, and Aberfeldy.
  • The Islands, an unrecognized sub-region includes all of the whisky producing islands (but excludes Islay): Arran, Jura, Mull, Orkney and Skye — with their respective distilleries: Arran, Isle of Jura, Tobermory, Highland Park and Scapa, and Talisker.
• Campbeltown, once home to over 30 distilleries, currently has only three distilleries operating: Glengyle, Glen Scotia and Springbank.
• Islay (pronounced I-LA, ˈaɪlə or eye-luh) — has eight producing distilleries: Ardbeg, Bowmore, Bruichladdich, Bunnahabhain, Caol Ila, Lagavulin and Laphroaig. A new small distillery, Kilchoman, has recently begun production, but is not yet selling whisky.

Alright, so we know where Scotch is from, what makes Scotch a true Scotch, now lets explore the differences between types.

There are two major categories, single and blended. Single means that all of the product is from a single distillery, while Blended means that the product is composed of whiskies from two or more distilleries.

• Single malt whisky is a 100% malted barley whisky from one distillery.
• Single grain whisky is a grain whisky from one distillery (it does not have to be made from a single type of grain).
• Vatted, Pure or Blended malt whisky is a malt whisky created by mixing single malt whiskies from more than one distillery.
• Blended grain whisky is a whisky created by mixing grain whiskies from more than one distillery.
• Blended Scotch whisky is a mixture of single malt whisky and grain whisky, usually from multiple distilleries.

So how do you select a good bottle? It’s all about the label. And here is how to decode it:.

Scotch whisky labels contain the exact words “Scotch whisky”; “Whisky” is sometimes capitalised. If the word “Scotch” is missing, the whisky is probably made elsewhere. If it says Scotch “whiskey” or “Scottish” whisky, it might well be counterfeit.

If a label contains the words “single malt” (sometimes split by other words e.g., “single highland malt”), the bottle contains single malt Scotch whisky.

“Vatted malt,” “pure malt,” or “blended malt” indicates a mixture of single malt whiskies. In older bottlings pure malt is often used to describe a single malt (e.g. “Glenfiddich Pure Malt”).

The label may identify the distillery as the main brand or as part of the product description. This is most likely the case for single malt. Some single malt whisky is sold anonymously or with a fictitious brand name. This does not indicate quality, but successive bottles may be completely different. The only reliable way to identify the distillery is to use a reference.

Alcoholic strength is listed in most countries. Typically, whisky is between 40% and 46% abv. A lower alcohol content may indicate an “economy” whisky or local law. If the bottle is over 50% abv it is probably cask strength.

Age is sometimes listed as well. If a bottle is, say, 12 years old, then all the whisky in the bottle was matured in cask for at least 12 years before bottling.

A year on a bottle normally indicates the year of distillation and one cask bottling, so the year the whisky was bottled may be listed as well. Whisky does not mature once bottled, so the age is the difference between these two dates; if both dates are not shown the age cannot be known from the bottle alone.

Now the best way to taste whisky is in a small glass with just a bit of water added to dilute the alcohol just enough to allow it’s true flavour appear. Often people will throw in a few ice cubes to cool the drink down, but not too much, the colder the whisky the less you’ll taste.

10 ways to meet the person of your dreams:

1. Are you a Runner? a Baseball player? Into cars? You probably won’t meet a person with similar interests at clubs and bars. There are too many people there and the odds are not stacked in your favour. So let’s stack the odds, how? By joining a community group, association, or a start attending events that are all related to what interests you. Meet someone that is interested in fine art at a art show, wine at a wine tasting, baseball at a baseball game. Sounds crazy doesn’t it? Oh wait, not at all.
2. Smile. I’m serious, when you are out in public you should be smiling, I’m not suggesting a Cheshire grin., that would probably creep people out. What I am suggesting is a subtle smirk. Make eye contact with people and everyone around will start to wonder “who is this really confident guy? why is he smiling?” you’ll get them thinking and at the moment you see that beautiful person at the grocery store you’ll be able to make your approach with ease.
3. Update your wardrobe. Now you don’t have to go out and spend a fortune on clothing to look like a celebrity. What you have to do is update your ward robe. Add a nice pair of shoes, a few dress shirts and some slender fitting clothing. You want to accentuate your features and hide your flaws.
4. Get out. Get out. Get out. Too many of us fall into routines. We go home from work, we make dinner, we watch TV, go to bed and repeat. Life can trap you in a stalemate, don’t let yourself fall into this routine and if you are into a trap like this it’s time to break out. Go out with friends from work, go out and meet people, join a club or a team. Get off the internet/the couch/your ass and go meet people, go increase your social circle. Improve your life, enhance your character and increase your odds of meeting Mister or Miss Right.
5. Challenge yourself – Decide you want to meet 30 new people in 30 days, sign up for a 10km Run Clinic or a Marathon Clinic. Take a language class, learn a martial art. The list goes on. How does this help you find a soul mate? It will enhance your life and you’ll become more interesting and more attractive to the opposite sex.
6. Approach. There are dozens of ways to approach girls and guys. Hands down the best resource is The Mystery Method website. Magic Bullets is an excellent book and can’t be recommended highly enough. For those of you that aren’t familiar with this book. It’s not going to teach you magical secrets that will make women jump your bones. What it will teach you is how to become more attractive and more interesting and finally how to approach a total stranger without scaring them away. If you don’t believe it try and find a few episodes of “The Pick Up Artist” online. It will show you how one book can change the life of 10 nerdy guys.
7. Go to the Gym. If you look good you feel good and if you feel good your confidence will improve. People with higher self confidence are more attractive. 1+1=2 simple as that. Plus you’ll live longer and be better in the sack.
8. Online Dating. Millions of people are taking to the internet to find their match. With websites like lavalife.com and match.com you’ll increase your odds. Even facebook and myspace are great ways to meet girls and guys. You’ll have to brush up your on your online game but don’t worry we’ll have some posts about that in the future.
9. Be Unique. Throw on a fedora, buy and interesting piece of jewelery. If you look like everyone else you’ll be classified like everyone else. You don’t have to dress like a clown, but do/wear something that is unique to you. People will notice you and getting noticed is half the battle. As an experiment make a bracelet from coloured paperclips and wear it for a few days. Wait and see how many people comment on it AND when they do tell them it’s from Tiffanys or that it’s the newest trend (humour is key folks). I can’t tell you how many girls commented on my bracelet the last time I wore one out. It’s a conversation start and it shows you are fun and confident.

The point is that we all have conversational routines for the questions that we hear regularly. This is not a bad thing. It’s only a bad thing if you haven’t given any thought to your answers.

“What do you do?”
“Where are you from?”
“What did you study in College?”

Even something as simple as a woman in a bar saying to you, “Hey, what’s that you’re drinking?” Your average guy answers with what he’s drinking. You don’t want to be the average guy. (If you do, stop reading our blog now. GO. Go away from our blog, keep being average, and keep getting the results you’ve always been getting.) In the world of attracting beautiful women, the rule is anything but the norm.

You can modify your canned answers to take into account the image/goal you want to project.

For example:
If your goal is to project playfulness at a bar (or you want to avoid the “profession” question because you’re currently unemployed…)

Cute Asian Girl: “What do you do?”
Mike: “I’m an ass model. Did you see the Lethal Weapon movies?….”

Another good one is “I’m in construction – I’m the guy that puts the nails back in the nail guns…” (credit to David Deangelo from Double Your Dating)

One of my favorite ways to use conversational routines is in response to a question or comment that I’ve just heard too many times, or I want to hold off on giving a straight answer. I travel a lot for work, and I inevitably get this a lot: “Hey, you were in Japan? How was Japan?” I’ve found that when people ask this question, usually they want to hear me reinforce their stereotypes of Asia (or wherever I’m coming back from), so I would just bounce the question off me:

“Wow, hey, how was Japan?”
“Well, Japan was like….Hmmm. Did you ever see that movie, The Last Samurai?”
(Confused pause) “Uh, yeah?”
“Exactly like that.” (Straight face. Pause. Wait for reaction. Smile.)

I have a few of these responses so that I can change it up occaisonaly:

“Hey, what was Japan like?”
“Oh man, it was crazy like in the movies, I’d go to the supermarket or a restaurant and instead of waiters and cashiers they had these robots that looked like Astroboy come over and serve us…”

I mean, that’s my style. Misdirect and then change the subject. It does two things: makes people want and chase for the real answer; and gives you credit for not needing to jump on the opportunity to talk about your trip/job/etc and therefore gain status.

The main point I want to make is to not feel stuck that you are always asked the same questions. Feel empowered that you’re asked the same questions, and formulate your plan of action for whatever it is you want to get across. For me I like to project mystery or a cocky confidence. I like to make people work for their answers. As David Deangelo asks in his seminars, “How do you make someone want something?”

Socially successful people have great canned routines naturally, usually subconsciously – but for those that aren’t the naturals, it takes only a quick conscious effort. I’m challenging you to do this now.
